Le 23 juin 2021, j’ai subitement perdu l’ouïe dans mon oreille gauche. Après une longue attente à l’urgence j’ai obtenue une requête pour un scan cérébral qui a finalement révélé une tumeur cérébrale bénigne nommée neurinome de l'acoustique ou schwannome vestibulaire. N’ayant aucune connaissance et vivant une inquiétude profonde, je me suis tourné vers Google pour trouver des réponses. J’ai heureusement découvert l’Association Canadienne du Neurinome de l’Acoustique (Acoustic Neuroma Association of Canada - ANAC. Cette association caritative méconnue a non seulement fourni des informations pertinentes mais m’a soutenu tout au long de mon cheminement. Il va sans dire que leur soutien était des plus apprécies!

 Les médecins et moi avons décidée que la meilleure approche était un suivi au 6 mois. Après 2 ans, la tumeur ayant grossit, j’ai subie une chirurgie pour la retirer. Après 10 heures et demi, je suis sortie de la salle d’opération sans ma tumeur et je me porte bien! Ma convalescence n’est pas facile, mais je vois une amélioration de jour en jour et je me porte très bien grâce au soutien de ma famille, de mes amis et tous les nouveaux amis de l’association ANAC

C’est pourquoi je veux faire connaître aux Québécois cette association si pertinente.

On June 23, 2021, I suddenly lost hearing in my left ear. After a long wait in the emergency room, I received a request for a brain scan, which ultimately revealed a benign brain tumour called an acoustic neuroma or vestibular schwannoma. Lacking any knowledge and feeling deeply concerned, I turned to Google for answers. Fortunately, I discovered the Acoustic Neuroma Association of Canada (ANAC). This lesser-known charitable organization not only provided relevant information but also supported me throughout my journey. Needless to say, their support was greatly appreciated!

The doctors and I decided that the best approach was to have follow-ups every 6 months. After 2 years, my tumour had grown and I underwent surgery to remove it. After 10 and a half hours, I came out of the operating room tumour-free and am doing well! My recovery is not easy, but I see improvement every day, and I am doing very well thanks to the support of my family, friends, and all the new friends from ANAC.

This is why I want to make this important association known to Quebecers.
