Mary has had over 30 years of nursing experience in both clinical nursing and clinical research nursing. Her career has included work in oncology, infectious diseases, and neurology in hospitals and university research settings. She was coordinator of a multi-site research grant studying the neurologic manifestations of HIV/AIDS, including tumours, opportunistic infections, cognitive changes, and impact on quality of life. Her role also included assessing and following study patients clinically.
Diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma in 2021, she underwent Gamma Knife Radiation in 2022. Her tumour has been stable since that time. She is grateful for the help and support she received from ANAC and subsequently volunteered to help create a database for the past newsletters. In that capacity she was able to learn the history of the organization and gain an understanding of the extent to which it has benefitted others with this condition.
She feels that ANAC plays an important role in providing information, emotional support, medical resources and help in coping with a complex set of symptoms. She is looking forward to her role in furthering the work of ANAC.
Sharing. Caring. Educating. Supporting.
